چکیده

The software control system for ISAC is described. ISAC is a humanoid robot designed and built by researchers at the Intelligent Robotics Laboratory in the Center for Intelligent Systems at Vanderbilt University. The robot was designed for close human interaction with the goal of enabling it to become intelligent. Possible requirements for intelligence in a robot are presented with reasons for making human-robot interaction a fundamental design constraint. The agentbased, parallel, distributed software architecture used to construct the control system is described. The types of agents and their interactions are described. An approach for using these tools to enable ISAC to learn from its own experiences under the tutelage of a human instructor is proposed.

Blinking and eye movement are one of the most important abilities that most people have, even people with spinal cord problem. By using this ability these people could handle some of their activities such as moving their wheelchair without the help of others. One of the most important fields in Human-Robot Interaction is the development of artificial limbs working with brain signals. The purpos...

Design and development of ShrewdShoe, a smart pressure sensitive wearable platform

This study introduces a wearable in-shoe system for real-time monitoring and measurement of the plantar pressure distribution of the foot using eleven sensing elements. The sensing elements utilized in ShrewdShoe have been designed in an innovative way, they are based on a barometric pressure sensor covered with a silicon coating. The presented sensing element has great linearity up to 300...

Agent-Based Support for Balancing teleoperation and Autonomy in Urban Search and Rescue

Today’s artificial intelligence technology is insufficient to support autonomous task performance in complex domains such as urban search and rescue, forcing human teleoperation of robots to be extensively relied upon. This, however, also has problems: humans quickly suffer from cognitive overload, and have difficulties in constructing a representation of the space around a remotely-placed robo...
